Who we are

Together we make anything possible

All over the world, surgical teams are working in unbelievably tough conditions to save and change lives. We can support them to make safe surgery possible, so kids can make anything possible.

We are Kids Operating Room

Kids Operating Room formally launched in January 2018. However, our team have been working in the development of healthcare systems and children’s surgery long before then.

How we are run

We are an international global charity registered in Scotland (SC048523). We are run by a Board of Trustees who make decisions on where the charity will invest and ensure that our work is sustainable and delivers the greatest impact for our investment. The Board devolves day-to-day responsibility for running the charity to the Chief Executive.

Our Founders
In 2014, Garreth and Nicola Wood supported the first ever Kids Operating Room. Since then, they have been relentless in our mission to make safe surgery possible, so kids can make anything possible.
Our Team
Every Kids Operating Room is created in collaboration with local hospitals and Ministries of Health. By understanding and supporting their specific requirements, we enable them to deliver what their nation’s children need.
We partner with other NGOs including Smile Train, UNHCR and UNICEF to deliver projects in some of the world’s most challenging environments.
We partner with universities including Oxford University, St Andrews University and University of California San Fransisco, contributing to global health education and working with them to understand and measure our impact.
