Diversity and Inclusion
At Kids Operating Room, we believe every child should have access to safe surgery, regardless of who they are or where they live.
That principle shapes not only the work we do, but how we work – with our colleagues, partners, healthcare professionals and communities around the world.
Our work
We work to improve access to safe surgery for children based on need.
We do not discriminate in the provision of our support, resources, training or services on the basis of race, ethnicity, nationality, sex, gender, disability, religion or belief, political affiliation or other status.
Our work takes us into different countries, cultures and communities around the world. We work in partnership with local healthcare professionals, hospitals, governments and other organisations, and seek to approach every partnership with respect for local knowledge, experience and context.
Our support is not influenced by religious, political or ideological affiliation.
Our people
We want Kids Operating Room to be a place where people from different backgrounds and with different experiences and perspectives feel welcome, respected and able to contribute.
We are committed to providing equality of opportunity and to creating a working environment free from unlawful discrimination, harassment, bullying and victimisation.
Our approach applies throughout employment, including recruitment, pay and benefits, development, training and progression. Decisions are based on the requirements of the role and an individual’s skills, experience and ability.
We recognise our responsibility to make reasonable adjustments for disabled colleagues and applicants and to identify and address barriers that may prevent people from participating fully in our workplace.
Our commitment
Creating an inclusive organisation is an ongoing responsibility.
We expect everyone working for or representing Kids Operating Room to treat others with dignity and respect. We regularly review our policies and practices and will continue to look for ways to make our organisation and our work more inclusive.
Our commitment to diversity and inclusion extends beyond our own workplace to the partners, healthcare professionals, children and communities we work alongside around the world.
