The next chapter for Kids Operating Room

In 2018, our charity was founded by Garreth and Nicola Wood with a simple idea: that every child, wherever they're born, deserves access to safe, timely surgery.

Today, thanks to supporters, partners and surgical teams around the world, that idea has become almost 140 operating rooms across some 36 countries - permanent places where local surgical teams save children's lives, day after day, year after year.

Globally, this means more than 5,500 children are expected to have an operation in one of our facilities every week.

Despite this global impact, our team has remained focused with a determination never to forget that each operation is a sick and scared child, a worried family, an entire future in our care.

To better reflect that global impact with an individual focus, today we are launching a new brand that we feel truly reflects the scale of this work.

For decades, global surgery has been framed by its limitations. The things that don't exist. The gaps. The shortages. The reasons why not.

It's understandable. But it isn't Kids Operating Room's story.

Kids Operating Room has time and again refused to be constrained by what was deemed impossible. We didn't accept being told a place was too hard to go, or a child too hard to reach.

Instead, we chose to put our time, effort and energy into redefining what is possible.

Our new brand is all about this shift in perspective - from the scale of the problem to the brilliance of the solution, without forgetting that every single operation is a child with their own hopes and dreams.

Our new logo shows exactly that. The parent or the doctor carrying the small child. Showing the love, care and compassion that forms the heart of what, with you, we do every single day.

Surgery saves kids’ lives. It also gets them back to school, back with their family, back with their friends, back on track for their own unique future.

This reflects the absolute truth of what Kids Operating Room does: making safe surgery possible, so kids can make anything possible.

What's changing, and what isn't

You'll see a new look across our website, our social media, our offices, and in our operating rooms - using our name in full, new colours, a sharper way of telling you what your support achieves.
What doesn't change is everything underneath it. All our effort still goes to creating children's surgical systems where they're most needed: building permanent operating rooms and training the surgeons and staff who work in them. Our partners, our programmes, our work - all exactly as they were yesterday.
This is about how we tell our story more clearly. Not a different story.

Thank you

None of the last eight years - the 130 operating rooms, the 35 countries, the children back on pitches and in classrooms and kitchens across the world - happens without the people who back Kids Operating Room. Supporters, partners, surgical teams, donors.

Thank you for making it possible.
