Social responsibility
The effects of climate change and inequality are closely linked to global poverty and health. As we work to make safe surgery possible for children around the world, we recognise our responsibility to consider the wider impact of how we operate.
Our approach to social responsibility focuses on three areas: climate and the environment; equality, diversity and inclusion; and the communities we work with.
Climate and the environment
We are committed to reducing the environmental impact of our work. This includes understanding and reducing our carbon footprint, considering sustainability in our supply chain and ways of working, and looking for opportunities to reduce unnecessary travel and make greater use of local delivery.
Equality, diversity and inclusion
We want everyone who engages with Kids Operating Room to be treated with dignity and respect. We are committed to equality, diversity and inclusion across our organisation and to creating an environment in which different experiences and perspectives are valued.
We continue to develop our policies, practices and training to support these principles and to meet — and where possible go beyond — our responsibilities under equality legislation.
Our communities
We work with communities around the world, including children and families, healthcare professionals, partners, supporters, volunteers and our own staff.
We are committed to operating safely and responsibly, maintaining high standards of safeguarding and health and safety, and considering the social and ethical impact of our work.
Accountability
We are committed to continually improving how we operate. We work with our partners to identify opportunities for improvement and consider social responsibility when making decisions about our operations, investments, partnerships and supply chain.
